The closest I’ve been to a kampung (village) is city slums. So I’m going a wee bit out of my element tomorrow and Sunday by going to Pahang/Perak/Selangor/we-aren’t-even-sure-which-state-it-is-in-exactly to the aboriginal settlements. Would be rather odd, you know, speaking Malay and not merely for kicks but because you kinda have too… More than that is the fact that I was ungraciously forced with the task of logistics (carrying things around) and translation.
I’m translating from English to Malay! I can do Malay to English, Classical Malay to Modern Malay, Modern Malay to Classical Malay - but English to Malay?
Couldn’t they pick a funkier language as the national language to force the aboriginals to speak, like perhaps, English?
